Automatic bollards for car parks, offices and business sites

Boliq rising bollards control who drives onto your site: close a car park entrance out of hours, keep reserved bays free, or shut a yard to fly-tippers. Sentry Max is £3,495 per bollard, fully installed, with key fobs included, app control across every bollard on your site, and bespoke links to intercoms, access control and monitoring stations.

The problem

Unwanted vehicles cost businesses time and money

About a quarter of business premises in England and Wales (26%) were victims of crime in the Home Office's latest Commercial Victimisation Survey, and security lighting, CCTV, gates and fences outside the premises were among the most common measures businesses use to prevent it.1

Parking is its own battle. Private parking firms requested vehicle keeper details from the DVLA 12.8 million times in 2024, up from 1.9 million in 2012.2 Tickets and appeals deal with the problem after it happens. A raised bollard stops it before it starts.

Fly-tipping is rising too, with 1.26 million incidents recorded on public land in England in 2024/25. On private land, clearing it up is the landowner's cost.3

Where they are used

What businesses use Boliq bollards for

Car park entrances

Raise a line of bollards across the entrance out of hours to stop overnight parking, car meets and joyriding, then lower them automatically each morning on a schedule.

Reserved and director bays

A single bollard in a bay keeps it free for the person it belongs to. They lower it with a fob or the app as they arrive.

Yards, depots and compounds

Keep vehicles and fly-tippers out of service yards and storage areas when the site is closed, without a full gate installation.

Loading and service roads

Keep a delivery route or fire access clear, and open it remotely when a driver arrives.

EV charging bays

Stop petrol and diesel cars blocking your chargers by keeping EV bays protected until they are needed.

Private roads and estates

Limit through traffic on a private access road, business park spine road or residential estate, with access for residents and visitors.

Specifying for a business site

What to plan for on a commercial site

Recommended modelBoliq Sentry Max, 600 mm high, 219 mm stainless steel, £3,495 per bollard fully installed
Power for busy entrancesA battery gives up to about 1,000 movements per charge. An entrance used 60 times a day would need charging every couple of weeks, so busy sites should choose mains power: £35 per metre of 24 V DC cable from your converter to the bollard, with the converter supplied and fitted for £195 if you want it.
ControlTwo key fobs per bollard. The app and SIM (£9.95 a month for the first bollard, £4.95 for each additional) runs every bollard on your site from one account, with schedules and fault alerts.
IntegrationBespoke packages to link bollards to intercoms, access control systems or a monitoring station.
SpacingSpace bollards so a car cannot pass between them, while keeping pedestrian routes at least 1,000 mm clear. Government guidance puts the maximum gap between security bollards at 1,200 mm.45
VisibilityEach bollard has an LED light ring and reflective band. Where pedestrians walk among the bollards, government accessibility guidance recommends bollards at least 1,000 mm high with a contrasting top, so we plan pedestrian routes around them.4
Security levelAccess control only. Boliq bollards are not crash tested and are not for hostile vehicle mitigation; sites that need that should specify a barrier rated to ISO 22343-1.6

Site-wide control

Every bollard, one account

With the Boliq app, facilities teams can see every bollard on the site, raise or lower any of them remotely, and set schedules so entrances open and close on their own.

  • Remote raise and lower from anywhere
  • Opening and closing schedules for each bollard
  • Alerts when a bollard reports a fault or loses power
  • Built-in mobile connection, so no site WiFi is needed

Connected to the systems you already have

For larger sites, we link Boliq bollards to intercoms, door and gate access control and monitoring stations, so a bollard can lower on a call from reception or be managed by your security provider.

Questions

Commercial bollard questions

How much do automatic bollards for a car park cost?

Boliq Sentry Max is £3,495 per bollard, fully installed with two key fobs. Mains power is £35 per metre of 24 V DC cable, with the converter supplied and fitted for £195 if you want it. App control is £9.95 a month for the first bollard and £4.95 for each additional one. There is no VAT to add.

Battery or mains for a business?

Battery suits bays and entrances used a few times a day. For entrances used dozens of times a day, choose mains power so the bollards never need charging.

Can staff use their phones instead of fobs?

Yes, with the Boliq app. Every bollard on the account can be controlled from the app, and fobs keep working alongside it.

Can bollards work with our existing access control?

Yes, as a bespoke package. We can link Boliq bollards to intercoms, access control systems and monitoring stations. Tell us what you use today.

Are they suitable for protecting a building from vehicle attack?

No. Boliq bollards are for access control and are not crash tested. For hostile vehicle mitigation, specify a barrier rated to ISO 22343-1.
